Owner & Executive Chef
Susan Bleemer brings decades of experience, vision, and leadership to the hospitality industry. With more than 45 years in food service and event execution, she has built a career centered on thoughtful cuisine, strong relationships, and exceptional guest experiences.
Her journey began in 1981 with the opening of Caffe Cappuccino in Doral, Florida. The Italian deli quickly gained a loyal clientele, and as its popularity grew, Susan expanded into catering—developing the foundation for a full-scale event services company.
In 1991, she established Catering The Event, operating from a purpose-built commercial kitchen designed to support events of all sizes. Through her guidance, the company has become a well-respected catering partner across South Florida, recognized for its quality, reliability, and attention to detail.
Susan has since overseen a wide range of events, including corporate functions, weddings, private celebrations, galas, and large-scale emergency and disaster feeding operations. Her commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and genuine hospitality continues to shape the company’s success and reputation.

Ralph Vazquez has been an integral part of Catering The Event for over 42 years, bringing unwavering dedication and culinary expertise to the company’s success. He began his career in the kitchen of Caffe Cappuccino while still in high school, where his passion for the culinary arts first took shape.
While remaining with the organization, Ralph continued to expand his professional development by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, along with formal culinary training. As the company transitioned from Caffe Cappuccino to Catering The Event, he advanced into a leadership role—becoming a trusted collaborator, Susan Bleemer’s right-hand, and an essential part of the company’s continued growth and success.
His refined cooking techniques, paired with his Cuban American heritage, bring distinctive depth and character to Catering The Event’s cuisine. Ralph’s experience, creativity, and commitment to excellence continue to play a vital role in shaping the company’s culinary identity.
